One of the origin stories for the name Antwerp comes from “ant” for hand and “werpen” for launch. This is associated with the folklore of the giant Druon Antigoon who enforced a toll on the river Scheldt. To those who would not or could not pay, he cut off one of their hands and tossed it into the river Scheldt. Captain Silvius Brabo of the Roman army, in retaliation, cut off the giant’s hand and tossed it into the river. The Brabofontein, or Brabo Fountain, celebrates this moment.

We’ll be in Antwerp soon to hand select diamonds. We’d love to find something for you. If you’ve been dreaming about something, or have something in mind, call us. We’d love to collaborate.
